Dr. Piatek graduated cum laude from the University of Evansville with a B.S. in chemistry. He earned his M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Piatek spent his residency in family practice at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana and became board certified by the America Board of Family Physicians. Prior to founding The Piatek Institute, he served as a staff emergency physician for eight successful years. He is now a consulting physician for St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Dr. Piatek has personally evaluated and treated over 10,000 individuals for weight loss. His Institute For Weight Management has quickly become one of the largest, most successful bariatric clinics in the country.
